KIRKMAN FAMILY

Just so I don't forget

Expecting baby #3 has been completely different having two kids who are as excited as we are. They are precious and sweet.  They decided to pick out some names:

Canyon: Jim

Trek: Hercules and Mr. Winkler Blue

Their choices describe their personalities so perfectly.  Canyon's is practical, simple, to the point.  Trek's is imaginative and silly. Interestingly they are all masculine names and both boys have said they hope the baby is a girl.

Bath time conversation:
Canyon: I just peed in the water.
Trek: Me too. Should we get out?
Canyon: No.

Summertime

This summer has been somewhat of a blur beginning with exciting news of a new baby on the way.  I spent most of June fatigued and nauseated, attempting to fit in some park days and hiking and recover from my night shifts. We visited Albuquerque in June and had a wonderful time.  I am so thankful for my sweet family who pampered me and showed the boys a good time.

July eased up on the fatigue and nausea and we got out a bit more with the kiddos hiking and playing around town.  The boys have enjoyed two trips to Grams house where their days were never dull.

We're now nearing the end of school-less days.  We're excitedly getting ready for a big Kirkman Family Reunion and trip to HAWAII!! We're packing and filling school supply lists. I'm overwhelmed, but grateful for all of life's experiences. I am eternally grateful for my sweet little family, for my sweet boys and their happy, energetic spirits.

Kidnergarten Ends

School ended a few weeks ago and Canyon's teacher celebrated in style.  She organized a graduation with sweet songs, a lovely brunch and a made sure to include everyone. Canyon's teacher was wonderful. She had high expectations for her kindergartens, but certainty supported and encouraged them so they could reach their goals. They went on many fun field trips, were assigned quite a few at home projects, and learned a lot about science.  Canyon also fished the year able to read simple books and add and subtract like a wiz. I am so grateful to Mrs. Roth and that Canyon's first year was so fun. At graduation the children said what they wanted to be when they grow up.  Canyon choose and inventor. How cool is that!  Perfectly fitting for my boy who does endless projects.

Durham Bulls 2013

Canyon was on the Durham bulls again (by complete coincidence) this year! It was logistically helpful.   If we lost a hat we has two.  The pants, socks and belts all matched and if Trek felt like being a die-hard fan he could arrive to each game in full get up.  Canyon especially enjoyed having his friend from school on his team.  About mid way through they switched to coach pitch and Canyon did great! Practicing with Dad sure helped. Canyon's skills really improved this year. He even caught a foul ball playing catcher. A highlight for sure. I love this little ball player!

The Wild Wild West...

...it's beautiful, it's dry, it's mysterious, it's full of color, it's big blue sky makes me know I'm home.
I love it here.

Adventure Day: Slide Rock

School was closed for Canyon and Gary was in between graduation and work so we decided to hit slide rock on a weekday before it gets too packed. What fun! Water and Sunshine: you can't ask for a better afternoon.

Gary Graduates!

Oh, Happy Day!
He set a goal and reached it.
The last 3 years Gary has worked so hard and I couldn't be happier and more proud.
Our family set out on an adventure a few years ago and have been blessed every step of the way. We worked together, supported each other and enjoyed the ride. Never once did it feel wrong.
Congratulations to my sweetheart. I love you so much!
