Today Trek Turned Two

All day I reminisced. I reminisced on how grateful I am to be a mama, especially to Trek. How blessed I feel that he has the Daddy he has and the big brother he has. I think about things that have happened over the year and the changes and growth that have occurred. When I thought about Trek this past year I couldn't help but think, what a big year for my baby! This past year he stopped nursing, learned to walk, started sleeping in his own bed (sort-of), started talking, feeding himself, and many other milestones. Everyday he shows me that he is silly, sweet, determined, imaginative, and kind. Everyday he plays, and kisses, and hugs, and laughs. Everyday I fall more and more in love with him. Everyday I am thankful for April 28th, 2009 when I was given the gift of Trek, when I met one of the most important people in my life. Everyday I learn from him and love to teach him. Happy Birthday my baby!

While he was napping Canyon and I made party hats and decorated the table. I made brownies and Gary got pizza.

Easter in no particular order...

(my boys made it next to impossible to take a picture--this was my favorite, silly shot)

Bubbles, Balloons, Buzz, & my sweet Baby Blue...

...Celebrating {2}

(The Cake: Cake Pops-they turned out perfectly & were a hit)
(a little help blowing from brother)

(Austin showing off his car & medal from the Pine Wood Derby earlier that day)
(Phase 2 of the Party: BUZZ... after Trek received this gift from Mom, Dad, & Canyon all other interaction was lost and he spent the rest of the party taking on the wind with BUZZ--he has since toted the too heavy-noise making-laser shooting-space ranger everywhere he goes--including bed)

Tonight...

...Trek ran around in a cape and sunglasses with a plastic golf club handle pretending to be a superhero. His arms were above his head, slobber was spewing from his mouth as he made swishing sounds, and his little feet carried him valiantly around our house. Bed time came and I watched his heart break as Gary kindly disrobed him of his costume. Then I proposed a deal! We would hide his superhero wardrobe! We would leave it there until the morning when he could take on the world again. He accepted with one small condition... He would have to sleep with his gear. I accepted, tucked him in and silently waited. A while later I found my fierce and determined baby fast asleep in a corner of our living room... dreaming about superhero's I'm sure.

(If only every bedtime went this smoothly)

Paradise

~On Friday~
The desert was in bloom...

We climbed rocks and Canyon's hands almost fell on this whip snake (pictured below)....

Canyon discovered some more creatures; a lizard which he named Sweet Eyes; he stared at her so long he became cross eyed...

Trek endlessly splashed in the water with a beloved stick...

I bathed in the sun, watched my honey help the boys cross the creek, and enjoyed the soft puffs of cotton tickle my face...

And Gary & I decided we were in PARADISE

An unexpected visit from family...

The Beckman's were headed through town and stopped by Sunday morning to say hello. It was a wonderful surprise!! We loved every minute of our visit (the only thing that would have made it better would have been CJ-we missed him). The three little darlings made up for lost time and played the entire time. We love you guys so much and can't wait for the next visit!

Community Supported Agriculture

I signed up for a SPRING SHARE at the local Community Supported Agriculture in Flag. So every Thursday for 12 weeks I pick up fresh Arizona Grown produce... I don't get to choose, I just get what the farmers have harvested that week. It has been fabulous so far! It has inspired/forced me to learn to prepare different meals with unusual (for us) items. Some I can't identify with out google. We have been eating more fresh fruits & veggies which is great... we all love it... even Gary. This week we got beets which is great because I found a recipe for beet humus and have been dying to try it. Question: I got turnips last week and have no idea what to do with them... any suggestions?

Tea Party

I love watching Canyon's little hands at work. He prepared a sweet tea party for Gram, Trek & I.

Sometimes it's hard to keep my eyes on the road...

Style

Canyon has been totally in to dressing himself and thinking he is very cool.

Here are some of his style tips:

  1. Shorts are always appropriate.

  2. Jackets are never appropriate.

  3. Sunglasses make the outfit.

  4. Two shirts must always be worn--can be 2 t-shirts, 2 collared shirts, 2 sweat shirts, but always 2 shirts.

  5. Socks are optional, but when worn must be pulled all the way up.

  6. Shoes must be multipurpose-- skateboard/river/hiking/climbing/running/school.

  7. Never wear what mom or dad think match--they have no idea what they talking about.

(I think he's doing a pretty good job!)

April Showers
