For at lease 6 months when Trek talked about his birthday he said he wanted a "tree party." It had us all stumped. Miraculously Skye found this book and the rest is history. What could be funner than a bunch of forest creatures gathering together in a tree eating popcorn, pizza, singing songs and playing hide and go seek. At Trek's celebration we make pine cone bird feeder, went on a treasure hunt, ate cupcakes and enjoyed a beautiful day in Flagstaff with good family and friends! I enjoyed myself too much to take many pictures. Trek loves his new sandbox from Grandma Orina and his ninja turtle mask from the Holly's.
After the sugar high from his party on Saturday mellowed I settled Trek into our bed (something he said he wont do after he turned four) I told him when he woke up he would be four. So this morning came and I was awoken by an enthusiastic boy saying, "Mama, am I four now? Check me am I bigger?" After I checked his arms and legs assuring him he was bigger than the day before we popped out of bed. He requested pancakes for breakfast. He beamed all day making sure everyone was aware that he is now four. We ate more cupcakes and rode bikes at the park all evening. He chose the nighttime movie and has been smothered with love. Trek brings imagination, silliness, determination, creativity, music, laughter and sweetness to our family every single day. We can't get enough of him! Watching him grow makes me grow. I love him so sweetly, so completely. Happy Birthday Baby Blue. You are one amazing boy!

Super Powers
I consider Trek a rowdy boys, boy who loves to wrestle, play with super heroes, jump in the mud or swing from the curtains. He's creative and marches to the beat of his own drum rarely asking for permission to do the things he wants to.
While the two of us were home alone one day Trek was playing vigorously in the living room while I paid some bills in the computer room. He came running into the computer room with a cape on his back, a shield in one arm, and a sword clutched in the other hand. He said mom "I have a new power." He dropped his weapons, wrapped his arms around me and said, "Love power."
My heart melted, LITERALLY turned to mush on the floor of our little rental. I was speechless at the sweetness, kindness, and tenderness of my rowdy dragon slaying boys boy.
He sat in my lap and I wrapped my arms around him. Trying not to ruin the genuineness off his self-discovered power, I confirmed that LOVE is in fact the strongest power I know of. The one power that can persuade the hardest of villains, can soften the wickedest of monsters, and can help the strongest super heroes win.

Adventure Day: Save the Trailer
The trailer coming to get our gear from the Verde River trip broke about half way in. Half way on a 2 1/2 hour dirt road. So after we retrieved all the people and I reconnected with our babies we set out for long strenuous Adventure the next day. It took us over 12 hours to retrieve our old trailer and a lot of muscle on Gary's part. The kids joined us and had a fabulous time Running around in the Matazal Wilderness. It was an Adventure we hope to not have to repeat, but being together as a family after four days apart was wonderful!

This is my baby...
Our converstaion while laying in bed yesterday morning:
Trek: "Mom, boogers don't turn into snakes and spiders when you eat them." (at the babysitter he learned that when you eat your boogers they turn into snakes and spiders bite your tummy)
Me: "They don't?!"
Trek: "No, because last time I ate my boogers they didn't eat my tummy."

Verde River 2013
With high water levels and a crew of both seasoned river runners and first timers we set out on a fabulous four day adventure. It was surreal and awesome to be on a river trip with my Dad and our long time family friend Jack. Billy, CJ, Colton, Clorie, Butch, and Metzel, Gary, my Dad, Jack and I rounded out fun group all learning from each other. The rapids were a bit more exciting than the previous year, but the scenery calmed my soul. And spending time with my sweetie couldn't have been better. We saw eagles, snakes, badgers, and herons to name a few. We ate good, slept warms, and floated safely. Here are a few of my favorite photos day by day.
